Severe Weather Forces Restaurant to Shut Down

A beloved restaurant and bar in Trafford, Owen’s Kitchen & Bar, has been compelled to temporarily close its doors after experiencing significant flooding over the weekend. The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain, and it seems Mother Nature took that a bit too seriously.

The restaurant, located on Ashley Road in Hale, reported that their kitchen was 'completely submerged' following the intense rainfall. Staff had to shut off the power for safety reasons, which unfortunately led to extensive damage to their stock.

In a lighthearted yet concerning social media update, the restaurant shared, 'As many of you know, the heavy rainfall last night sadly caused severe flooding to our restaurant. Our kitchen was left completely submerged, which meant our power had to be turned off for safety reasons. Unfortunately, much of our stock has also been damaged, so it will take us a little while to get back on our feet.'

Since opening in June of the previous year, Owen’s Kitchen & Bar has become a local favorite, known for its diverse menu featuring both English and Asian-inspired dishes. The owners, Richie and Alex, noted that emergency services had to intervene with pumps to clear out the water, and the financial impact of the flooding is estimated to exceed £30,000.

Adding to their woes, the original Owen's Bar in Urmston is also facing closure due to burst pipes in the area. As they navigate these turbulent waters, one can only hope that the culinary delights of Owen's Kitchen & Bar will soon rise again!
