Middlesbrough College Joins Forces with National Education Scheme

A North East institution, Middlesbrough College, has been recognized as a founding partner in a groundbreaking national education initiative. Selected as one of only six colleges across the UK, it will be part of the Education Endowment Foundation's (EEF) new Evidence Partnership aimed at advancing the 16–19 educational sector.

Tamara Pierce, the Group Director of Teaching, Learning and Assessment at the college, expressed her excitement about the collaboration. She stated, "Teaching truly makes a difference, and as the sole college in the North East to join this initiative, we are committed to breaking down barriers for disadvantaged learners. Our mission aligns closely with this partnership – to uplift aspirations and create a meaningful impact in our communities."

The partnership with the EEF will allow Middlesbrough College to promote awareness within the sector, share evidence-based resources, and transform research into actionable classroom practices through various formats including blogs and videos. Additionally, the college will facilitate regional networks that foster collaboration among educational providers.

With the aim of closing the achievement gap impacting socio-economically disadvantaged learners, this initiative highlights the critical importance of support at this pivotal educational stage. The college joins other notable institutions like Thomas Rotherham College and Exeter College in this endeavor.

Emily Yeomans, co-CEO of the EEF, underscored the significance of this partnership, stating, "The 16–19 phase is crucial for young individuals, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and we are thrilled to work alongside Middlesbrough College to tackle these ongoing challenges."
